Ballast Point Park Ballast Point Park was a former Caltex lubricant production facility. It has now been redeveloped by Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority as an attractive Waterside Park on Sydney Harbour.
Central Signs manufactured and installed signage at the facility consisting of a 20 metre vitreous enamel wall showing heritage photographs and a display case in which found objects are displayed. Other directional and wayfinding signage included vitreous enamel mounted onto pylons or directly fixed to sandstone walls.
Precast concrete block seating was inlaid with an acid etched stainless steel map of Sydney Harbour. We sandblasted text into faces of concrete walls using steel stencils describing the history of the site. The clients brief was to provide a durable product requiring no maintenance and the highest resistance to graffiti & vandalism. The vitreous enamel product met all the requirements and maintained the heritage appearance of the site by using techniques from the turn of the century to display modern graphic concepts.
